Past Life Regression

The most common questions on Past Life Regression By Paul Williamson

There are many schools that teach past life regression, and many approaches to this therapy. The answers I give to the following questions are based upon the methods I use. My experience has come from several trainings I have completed, and the work I have done with thousands of clients over 38 years.

What Actually Happens in a Past Life Regression Session? A Step-by-Step Guide

Private individual sessions that I offer last between one and four hours. During Mind Body Spirit festivals, I offer half-hour sessions with people. Here, I will describe the procedure I use for the festival half-hour sessions.

During the half-hour session, I focus upon one of the past lives of my client, even though they may have many past life memories. My client will assume a comfortable position. I will then guide them into a relaxed state where they are conscious but receptive to impressions that may come from within them. I will talk with my client, and they will talk with me. It is a co-operative process.

What my client will do is to be like a channel, allowing impressions of the past life to come to them. They may see images, have feelings or a sense of knowing about what is happening, or have sensations in their body. I encourage my client to speak aloud what it is that they sense from within.

The first step will be to help my client experience their past life identity, including basic details such as the location where they are, their sex, personality, thoughts and feelings, their home, and daily activities. I will ask lots of questions to ground this, so my client feels connected to their past life self.

Once this is established, it will be possible to allow memories to come forth, so there can be various impressions of memories from that life. I will guide my client right through significant moments from their past life until they reach their death. Then, they can experience their last breath from the past life and leaving that body. Now they will experience their soul rising to the Spiritual realm of love and light.

Once they reach that, they may be aware of other Spiritual beings. They can review the life they had and become aware of how that life connects to their present life. Generally, when people finish the regression, they will feel pleasantly relaxed but also moved by the experience they have had.

5 Reasons Your Current Life Might Be Shaped by a Past

There could be fears or trauma that have not been resolved during a past life. These fears can carry forward into the present life. For instance, a person may carry within them a fear of being in water. It could be that they were drowned in a past life. By going through the memory of that past life in regression, this may help to release that fear, so the person can feel easier about going into the water.

There may be limiting behaviour patterns that have affected the soul in a past life. In the present life, there may be the tendency for the soul to continue the same kind of behaviour, even though it is not in their best interest. For instance, a soul may be selfish in one of their past lives and carry that tendency forward. Now, the person may need to learn about the virtues of having an open heart, so they will consider others as well as themselves. During regression, a person can gain much insight to help them understand and release such a pattern.

A soul who has helped many people in a past life, and found joy in doing that, may want to help people in their present life too, and find ways they can do that. Often, souls that channel a lot of love are mature souls. The main thing they need to learn now is self-love, so that they can value who they are and what they do.

A soul may become very close to another person in a past life, and that love will be like an attractive force where the soul will want to be with that person again. This may happen many times, and those two souls may feel that they belong with each other.

A soul may become addicted to substances in a past life and find that, in their present life, they have the tendency to continue a pathway of addiction again. When people realise that their addiction has its source in a past life, this can help them to release and discontinue that behaviour today.

Past Life Regression vs. Therapy: What's the Difference and Can They Work Together?

In my practice as a Past Life Regression Therapist, I use many forms of therapy. These include NLP, Somatic Healing, Soul Retrieval, Breathwork, Psychodrama, Gestalt, and Counselling. There are many nuances of experience that can emerge through a regression session. Much experience is needed to deal with these.

When people do meditative forms of therapy, such as Breathwork and Reiki, spontaneous memories from past lives can be sensed by people, sometimes quite dramatically. In my practice, it has been important for me to have had training in trauma release so I can support people who access traumatic memories. People doing past life regression with others need to be competent in dealing with this.

Past Life Regression can go together well with other forms of therapy. It can add a Spiritual dimension because, through past life regression, people can connect with their soul consciousness. People can learn that there is much more to who they are than they thought. Thus, Past Life Regression and Life Between Lives can be tools of inner awakening.

Soul Connections: Could the People in Your Life Have Been There Before?

I believe that most of us have people in our circles whose souls are familiar to us from other lives. It is possible through regression to identify where we have known a person’s soul before. Patterns in our relationships that stem from past lives can be worthy of exploration to give us insight and perspective.

We need to be careful when doing this, so we do not perpetuate prejudices, but instead use it as an opportunity to learn. As humans, none of us are perfect.

Once, I regressed three sisters simultaneously and found that the three of them had known each other in at least three lives. They went through a series of scenes where they were different characters relating to each other in different ways. When they came out of the meditation, they had some great discussions about it all.

We Asked Someone What It's Like to Experience Past Life Regression for the First Time

It is normal for people to doubt, before they have a regression, that they will be able to do it, for it is an inner step into the unknown. What people discover from doing their first past life regression can be a great surprise, and a profound opening to their inner consciousness.

Many people, after they do regression, no longer have a fear of death, for they experience what happens from their past life. They can learn about themselves in ways that are enlightening, with memories that they did not know existed. Numerous people have told me how important their first regression with me was, and that it started them on their Spiritual Path. The impact of what occurs in a past life experience can change and transform people for life.

People can make of their past life experiences what they want. There is no compulsion to believe that reincarnation is true. But the memories of other lifetimes certainly exist in the consciousness of many of us, irrespective of our beliefs. We do not need to fear what exists within us. The Ancient Greeks told us that the aim of our existence was to “Know Thyself.”

My partner Dee and I have a podcast called Soulpathways, which is available on Spotify and Apple Podcast. The second episode features Louise, who has a half-hour live regression with me. She gives a very honest account of what she experienced through having past life regression sessions with me, and how she has managed them.
